Overall

The Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer massage chair is a beautiful chair, available in 4 colors, with wood panel accenting the dreamer is much more stylish than the rest of the massage chairs Osaki has to offer. The model we have in our showroom is the Brown and black wood grain model, it’s a very pretty chair.

As a bigger gentleman, 6’2” with broad shoulders massage chairs do often end up being too small in the shoulder area for any sort of relaxing experience. The dreamer is a different story. I started today with the “Wake-up” Program and was quite impressed. This was the first massage chair that I have experienced that lived up to the hype. The Wake-up program did exactly as it advertised, after the program finished I could almost feel the reinvigoration in my muscles, almost as if they were bursting with energy. Let’s get into the details…

When you first sit down…

As mentioned, our floor model is the brown color with the wood grain paneling which is actually quite beautiful. I climbed into the chair and turned it on. Immediately it started to recline and scan my back (like all of the Osaki massage chairs do). Once it finished I chose the “Wake-up” program and pressed the “anti-gravity” button twice so it would recline me all the way back. The “Wake-Up” Program is designed to utilize all of the massage styles available to reinvigorate your muscles and get the blood flow moving again, with Osaki’s particular massage roller technology it did feel like a pretty realistic recreation of a massage that a human would deliver.

To the Bigger Users

The dreamer massage chair is much more accommodating to wide shoulders. Though it still has the standard 265 lbs max suggested user weight limit, but if you are like me and are broad in the shoulders the dreamer is capable of comfortably seating you.

A word on the 3D technology

3D massage roller technology allows the massage roller to protrude from the massage track and reach some of the more hard to reach areas, like your lower back, upper shoulder and neck areas. This protrusion can lead to a more vigorous massage especially in the Zero Gravity position. In my experience with the dreamer massage chair, I had to tone the 3D protrusion down when it got to my lower back. It was far too vigorous for my comfort level, but it is important to note that the control easily gives you the flexibility to change the 3D depth if the massage becomes painful.

Zero Gravity and Lighting

The Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer massage chair is designed with two stage zero gravity. With the touch of a button, it reclines you back into the first one, press the button again you go all the way back and most of your bodyweight is focused on the backrest, making the back massage even more vigorous.

I loved the extra strength in my back massage; I didn’t like a couple of awkward points about the position though. First, I let the program finish while I was in the position, and after it was finished I was still in the second stage zero gravity position, it didn’t raise me up, which is a problem because it is slightly difficult to reach the remote stand if you hadn’t already taken the remote off. My other issue with this is likely due to my size, but in the second stage of zero gravity, my arms are halfway out of the armrests, so the forearm massage really only hits my hand and wrist which was a little bit painful until I turned it down.

Air Bag Massage System

Other than the issue I had in the reclined position, the airbag massage was quite fantastic. Particularly in the foot roller area, air bags placed just above the feet press your feet down onto the reflexology foot roller to both increase its effect and extend your foot massage to the entirety of your lower legs.

The Remote

The remote is pretty easy to use, there aren’t a thousand buttons on it that make you wonder what they do, and how they are going to affect your massage. You have the automatic programs, the 3D massage intensity adjustment and a few positioning adjustment buttons. That’s it. Everything else is hidden below the manual adjustment panel, which allows you to fine tune all of the particular parts about your massage, but it’s hidden away so you only have to mess with it when you want to.

At the end of “Wake Up”

Most massage chairs raise you back up after the massage program is complete, as mentioned above, when I was in the second stage zero gravity, it didn’t. It just turned off, which was sort of awkward. After I got myself up and out of the chair, however, I felt amazing! My upper shoulder muscles were almost vibrating with new energy and I was very much awake.

A Word on Shipping…

Massage chairs are heavy, weighing in excess of 200 lbs and coming in several large boxes in some cases. The Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer massage chair comes in 3 of them. While it is not difficult to put together, many of the pieces are heavy and may require the help of another individual or two. There is always the option of the White Glove delivery as well, where you can get your massage chair assembled in a room of your choice in your home, and have all the trash hauled away, it’s an additional fee, but many always say that it is worth it. We have videos of the assembly of this chair and many others coming soon to our youtube channel as well to help all those do-it-yourselfers out there who want to see exactly how it’s done.
