In fact, Port of Los Angeles executive director Gene Seroka said that LA port’s overall import volume for 2020 only went up by 1%, but that included a four-month period between February and May when imports practically stopped. The second half of last year saw 908,000 shipments dealt with per month, an increase of over 50% from the first half of 2020. Over Christmas, the Port of LA took in 94% more imports than the previous year. 

And these constraints are still affecting the ports months later. From construction to retail to essential goods, every industry is being affected by these shipping issues and ongoing demands.
