The Beginnings

In 1985, two entrepreneurs from Pennsylvania had the vision to create power lift and recliner chairs for the home medical market that broke the mold. And a huge part of this was “building it right the first time”, a motto that still holds true to this day. Over 30 years later in their 200,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Old Forge, PA, they still work to create the right chair on the first try.

Materials Used

When you look closely at the materials used in each chair, you’ll find only the best. The frames are made with northern maple hardwood, poplar, and engineered furniture laminate products. The chair’s frame joints are joined using staples, glue and mortise, and tenon joinery for long-lasting durability.

The spring system follows the manufacturing practices found in the nation’s finest shops since 1934. Classical furniture building techniques are the foundation of every UltraComfort chair. The springs are secured in the front and back to prevent squeaking and sagging with four-seat springs. To further enhance the strength and durability the springs are secured with tie wire and material to the seat side rail. We follow the same process with the springs found in the backrest, reducing noise and sagging for a longer lifespan.

UltraComfort is proud to be a pioneer in developing a chaise pad that is superior in the marketplace. The pad is sewn to a seat covering and then secured to the ottoman, preventing movement of the chaise pad while the chair is in use. The chaise pad is further secured from the front to the back and then side to side. The chaise pad is then apex sewed, which further secures the fabric and foam to the seat for years of trouble-free use. Attachable headrest covers are standard on most styles of UltraComfort chairs.
