When Is the Best Time to Buy a Massage Chair? (2026)

Holiday sales, Black Friday, FSA deadlines and delivery windows all land in the same few months. Here is how to line them up so you get the chair you want, paid the way you want, and delivered when you need it.

The Short Answer

  • Holiday sale weekends are when prices usually move. Memorial Day, Father's Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Black Friday are the big ones.
  • October and early November are the smart planning window. You can still use FSA money before most plan years end and still get a chair delivered before the holidays.
  • If you're paying with an FSA, don't wait until December. Paying with HSA/FSA includes a review by a licensed provider, and that takes time.
  • If you're paying with an HSA, you don't have a deadline. HSA money generally rolls over, so you can wait for the right chair and the right price.
  • The right chair matters more than the right week. A small discount on a chair that doesn't fit you is no bargain.

The three things that set your timing

People usually ask "when is the best time to buy?" as a question about price. For most of our customers, price is only one of three things that decide the timing.

1. Price events

Sales tend to cluster around holiday weekends. If saving money is your top priority, time the purchase to one of them.

2. Payment deadlines

An FSA usually has a plan-year deadline. An HSA generally doesn't. Financing offers come and go. How you pay can matter more than the sale price.

3. Delivery timing

A massage chair is a large piece of furniture. White-glove delivery has to be scheduled, and schedules fill up before the holidays.

4. Your own body

If you're buying for back pain, sciatica or recovery, every month you wait is another month without it. That counts too.

A month-by-month buying calendar

This is the general pattern across the year. Promotions vary from brand to brand and year to year, so treat it as a guide rather than a promise.

Typical patterns only. Ask a specialist what's currently on offer, or what's coming soon.
When What's happening Good for
January New Year promotions. Many FSA plan years reset, so new elections become available. Buyers with fresh FSA funds or a New Year wellness goal
Feb – April Presidents' Day sales and tax-refund season. Buyers putting a refund toward a larger purchase
May – June Memorial Day and Father's Day events. Price-focused buyers and gift buyers for Dad
July Fourth of July sales and summer events. Price-focused buyers
September Labor Day sales. New models often start arriving. Buyers who want the outgoing model at a better price
October The quiet planning window, with no rush yet on delivery. FSA holders, holiday gift buyers, and anyone who wants time to compare
November Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Price-focused buyers who are flexible on model and delivery date
December Holiday gifting, plus FSA deadlines for many calendar-year plans. Buyers who already know which chair they want

FSA deadlines: why December is too late

We now accept HSA and FSA payments at checkout. Choose Pay with HSA/FSA, answer a short questionnaire, and your request goes to a licensed provider for review. A massage chair is treated as a dual-purpose item, so it generally needs a letter of medical necessity. That review happens before your card is charged.

That matters for timing. Unused FSA money is often forfeited at the end of the plan year. Some plans offer a limited carryover or a grace period, and many don't. If you start the process on the last few days of the year, you're leaving no room for the review.

Plan ahead: If you have FSA money left for 2026, start in October or early November. Check your plan's deadline, carryover and grace-period rules with your plan administrator before you buy.

HSA holders have more freedom. HSA money generally stays in your account from year to year, so you can wait for a sale without worrying about losing it. For the full details, including what a letter of medical necessity covers, read our complete HSA/FSA guide.

Is it worth waiting for Black Friday?

Sometimes. It depends on how firm you are on the chair and the delivery date.

Waiting makes sense if…

  • You're flexible about which model you get
  • You don't need the chair by a specific date
  • You're paying with cash, an HSA or financing rather than an FSA with a deadline
  • Price is the deciding factor for you

Buying now makes sense if…

  • You've already found the chair that fits you
  • You need it delivered before a holiday or a visit
  • You're using FSA money that expires soon
  • You're buying for pain relief and don't want to wait

Keep in mind that popular models and colors can sell out during big sale events, and delivery calendars fill up late in the year. Saving a little on a chair that arrives after the holiday, or isn't your first choice, is usually a poor trade. If you're unsure, talk to a specialist. We'll tell you what we can about current pricing and what to expect.

Buying a massage chair as a holiday gift

A massage chair is one of the few gifts that gets used every day. It also takes more planning than most gifts.

  • Measure the room first. Check the space the chair needs upright and fully reclined, plus the doorways on the way in. Our clearance guide explains how.
  • Match the chair to the person. Height, weight and how strong a massage they like all matter. See our guides for tall and heavy users, petite users and seniors.
  • Choose a delivery option. Find out what's involved with white-glove delivery and setup, and book early for a pre-holiday date.
  • Buying for two? Our couples guide covers chairs with body scanning and user profiles.

A simple fall buying checklist

  1. Set your budget and your payment method.Cash, HSA, FSA or financing. If you're using an FSA, look up your plan deadline now.
  2. Shortlist two or three chairs.Start with our guides to the best chairs under $3,000 and the best 4D chairs under $5,000.
  3. Compare warranties.A good deal on a chair with a weak warranty can cost more later. See our warranty comparison by brand.
  4. Try before you buy if you can.Visit our showrooms in Las Vegas or St. George, Utah. Massage is personal, and sitting in a chair tells you more than any spec sheet.
  5. Decide on your timing.Buy during a sale if you're flexible. Buy early if you have an FSA deadline, need a delivery date, or need relief now.
  6. Book delivery. The earlier you order, the more delivery dates you'll have to choose from.

Common questions

What month are massage chairs cheapest?
There's no single month. Prices usually move around holiday sale weekends like Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Black Friday. The best price for you also depends on how you pay and which model you want.
Are Black Friday massage chair deals worth it?
They can be if you're flexible on model and delivery date. If you need a particular chair by a particular date, or you're working against an FSA deadline, buying earlier is usually the safer choice.
Can I use my FSA on a massage chair before it expires?
Possibly. Choose Pay with HSA/FSA at checkout. A licensed provider reviews the request, and a massage chair generally needs a letter of medical necessity. Start well before your plan deadline to leave time for the review.
Do HSA funds expire at the end of the year?
Generally no. HSA money usually rolls over from year to year, so you don't have the same year-end rush as with an FSA.
How far ahead should I order a chair for Christmas?
As early as you can, ideally in October or early November. Delivery calendars fill up close to the holidays. Call us and we'll give you current lead times for the chair you're considering.
Should I buy last year's model when new ones arrive?
It can be a good value if the older model fits you and has the features you'll use. Check that the warranty and parts support are the same before you decide.
