Many customers ask whether they can use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) toward a massage chair. Often the answer is yes — but there is one condition worth understanding before you order.
Massage chairs are treated as “dual purpose”
Health accounts distinguish between items that are inherently medical — crutches, a blood pressure monitor — and items that could serve either a medical need or general wellness. A massage chair falls into the second group.
Because of that, a letter of medical necessity from a licensed healthcare provider is usually required before HSA or FSA funds can be applied to one. That letter is a short document in which your provider identifies the condition being treated and explains why the item is appropriate for treating it. It is a routine request — but it has to come from your provider, not from us.
How it works when you order
- Choose your chair.
- On the product page, choose Buy with HSA/FSA rather than Add to Cart.
- You will be taken through an eligibility check for your purchase.
- If it qualifies, you complete your order using your health account funds.
The Buy with HSA/FSA option appears on the products where it is available. If you do not see it on an item, that item cannot go through this process.
What we can and cannot do
We can show you which products can go through the HSA/FSA process and help you place the order. We cannot tell you whether your particular purchase will be approved, and we cannot issue a letter of medical necessity. Those decisions belong to your healthcare provider and your plan administrator.
