Contrasting the Luraco Legend PLUS & the Osaki OS-PRO Ekon
The Luraco Legend PLUS vs. the Osaki OS-PRO Ekon
When you’re pitting the Luraco Legend PLUS and the Osaki OS-PRO Ekon against each other, understanding what sets them apart will be how you make your decision. Which of these massage chairs will give you the experience you want? You’ll find an L-Track in both chairs, but their additional features, as well as the track itself, do have some differences.
Let’s look at the important features- the rollers and the track.
3D Massage Rollers
A 3D massage system takes everything a traditional, 2D system offers further and is found in the two chairs we’ll be discussing below. The 3D system works deeper into your shoulders and back, getting into the muscles for a more intense, more productive massage.
These rollers can also protrude further out from the track and reach places that the average chair usually can’t, including the upper neck and between the shoulders.
The rollers can move left and right and up and down, and in and out. This action helps to replicate the action of human hands. With 3D massage chairs, you can adjust the intensity of the massage to as intense or gentle as you like with some limitations based on the chair itself. If more than one person will be using the chair this can be beneficial.
First things first, what is a massage track, really? Basically, a massage chair has a long roller track that extends from the head/neck section down to the lower back and, in some chairs, the glutes and hamstrings. This track is similar to a train track because it guides the rollers up and down the back of the chair like train wheels like over the ground.
When you’re getting a massage from a chair, these rollers do most of the work, particularly on your back. The rollers glide along the track and based on its shape they can work in different areas.
Those different areas depend on whether the track is an S or an L.
As developments in massage chairs improved over time, the S-Track saw an extension called an L-Track. The L-Track was showcased years back and showed the ability to travel down the spine as well as beneath the seat to reach the glutes and hamstrings. That chair was an Inada, the first manufacturer to offer an L-Track prototype.
Inada took time to perfect their chair, and so Infinite Therapeutics, or Infinity, introduced its Iyashi model that became the first commercially available massage chair with an L-Track. This can be something to keep in mind when you’re shopping these two chairs since Infinity was the first to offer an L-Track.
S-Track vs. L-Track
When you’re comparing tracks, think of it this way. The L-Track is an extension of the S-Track that addresses your glutes and the top of the hamstrings. It’s still one continuous roller track that mimics the shape of your spine like an S-Track does.
The rollers work the glutes, piriformis, and hamstrings with the same attention and care as the neck, mid-back, and lower back where previously these areas could only be massaged by airbags. When you have tight or sore glutes, or if you have piriformis syndrome or sciatica, an L-Track massage chair can be very beneficial.
Something to keep in mind when you’re looking at chairs that most people don’t realize is that when you’re buying an L-Track chair you’ll still receive the benefits of an S-Track since the L-Track is just an extension on the S-Track.
Now, let’s discuss what each chair offers and give you a better idea of which one will be right for your needs.
The Luraco Legend PLUS gives all users an incredible massage experience. This chair can accommodate users up to 6’2” with a maximum weight of 250 pounds. Top-notch technology has been outfitted throughout the chair to help you feel more relaxed and refreshed with every session.
3D + L-Track Massage Roller Technology
The Legend PLUS offers wonderful 3D technology with roller heads that protrude from the track to better massage areas where the spine curves away from the chair, including the neck, shoulders, and lower back. The L-track system gives the roller the ability to massage from your neck all the way down to your glutes, ensuring that a revitalizing massage awaits every inch that touches the chair. There are five levels of intensity control that give you the ability to adjust the massage from soft to deep tissue.
The remote is much like a smartphone and includes several menus that offer the most options to customize your massage. The Legend PLUS also features nine automatic programs and five levels of intensity control so that you can create a soft or deep massage each session.
Accommodate Heights up to 6’2”
Getting a massage from a chair that isn’t designed to fit someone your size will result in a poor experience. Thankfully, the Legend PLUS is designed for people up to 6’2” and 250 lbs. This will ensure that a larger user can get a full-body massage experience.
Intelligent Sensor Technology
The Legend PLUS features Intelligent Sensor Technology that measures your size and shape. It is vital that a massage chair adjusts to the shape of each user, and the Luraco technology allows this chair to do just that and map your back to position the rollers correctly.
Noise Reduction Technology
Luraco has incorporated Noise Reduction Technology so that your massage is as peaceful as possible.
The Legend PLUS massage chair features one of the most comprehensive compression massages with airbags positioned in the hands, arms, shoulders, back, hips, seat, legs, calves, and feet.
Stretching programs allow the chair to access muscles that other chairs frequently can’t reach and provide relief, so you truly get a full-body massage experience. This also helps work out knots in your back and legs so that the massage has a greater effect.
Double Foot Massage Rollers
In each footrest are two high-quality massage rollers. These rollers apply a reflexology massage to the soles of your feet as the air cells offer a compression massage to get all of the knots out in your feet. When you’re on your feet all day or just want to increase your relaxation, this feature is fantastic.
Full-Body Heat Therapy
The Legend PLUS features a full-body heat therapy system with several heating elements in the footrest and throughout the back. These apply gentle heat soothe and loosen your muscles. You can adjust the heat through five levels.
Zero gravity offers incredible benefits at the push of a button. As you recline back, your legs life above your heart so that gravity's influence is reduced on your spine and joints, allowing them to decompress and relaxing the surrounding muscles. This can create a sort of weightless feeling and focuses most of your weight on the backrest, which improves the intensity of your back massage significantly.
Made in America
Luraco massage chairs are the first and only medical massage chair brand that researches, develops, and builds their chairs right here in the USA.
Now let’s take a look at the OS-PRO Ekon.
Osaki OS-PRO Ekon
The Osaki OS-Pro Ekon offers an SL-Track paired with wonderful 3D technology and body scanning. Soothing heat, airbag compression massage, and more are featured in this chair. Check out all it has to offer below.
The Ekon combines both S and L-Track technology for the best possible massage experience. As you know, the S part of the track curves with your spine and the L part of the track extends the rollers reach to your glutes and hamstrings.
The Ekon scans your body to create a map of your size and shape to provide a tailored massage each and every session. You’ll receive consistent pressure appropriate for your size and you can always recalibrate it if needed.
This 3D massage chair can massage in a wider sweep and much deeper than a conventional chair. The massage heads extend out to create a deep massage with five levels of adjustability. Reaching acupuncture points is effortless, and you’ll get extremely accurate precision and depth.
Zero gravity is the perfect position for your massage for a few reasons. Reclining back in this way takes the stress of gravity off of your spine and joints, allowing them to decompress and naturally relax the surrounding muscles. This also puts your full weight on the back of the chair and the rollers, increasing the deep tissue effect of your massage.
Air Compression Massage
This chair has multiple airbags with dual airbags on each shoulder. The upper body airbag will push you into the seat massaging your shoulders and increasing the effectiveness of the rollers. The airbag system also inflates certain sections independently providing a twisting stretch to the lower back, hips, and thighs. Airbags in the arm and leg rests provide a compression massage.
Foot & Calf Rollers
Spinning reflexology massagers in the calves and footrest provide a soothing kneading massage that stimulates acupressure points. Your feet will love you.
As the chair reclines back, the base slides forward so that when not in use, your massage chair takes up as little space in your home as possible. The Ekon also only needs five inches to fully recline.
Pair your mobile device and enjoy your massage while listening to your favorite music through the high-quality built-in speakers.
Recline & Leg Extension
The Ekon features a full recline and leg extension that makes every movement in the chair effortless. Using the convenient easy to use remote you can control the foot extension, leg rest, recline, and zero gravity to effortlessly get into the ideal positioning for your massage.
Heat therapy is the perfect complement to any massage. In the lumbar area are heating elements that help loosen tense muscles in the mid and lower back. Your massage will be even more effective with heat in the mix.
Adjustable Head Cushion
The cushion in the headrest can be adjusted to suit your desires. There are three different positions possible.
The slim LCD remote is extremely user-friendly. You can set the timer for 10, 20, or 30 minutes. You’ll also see active programs and be able to navigate to different options quickly.
The Ekon has six auto massage programs to choose from:
- Sports Refresh: best used after exercise or a workout, this deep tissue massage uses a combination of tapping and kneading.
- Extension: a Thai-style massage that uses a strong kneading and stretching.
- Rest and Sleep: designed for relaxation of your entire body and mind, this utilizes several intensities and styles.
- Working Relief: focuses more on the neck and shoulders to help relieve tension from your workday.
- Neck and Shoulder: a therapy-based program that targets your neck and shoulders.
- Waist and Spine: helps to relieve tension and pain in your lower back.
Both of these chairs extend similar massage experiences and have similar features. They both provide L-Tracks, body scanning, and a 3D massage. They will also both provide you with a zero-gravity experience and offer space-saving, though the Novo XT2 will save you three more inches than the Ekon.
The Novo also offers spot massage capabilities, USB charging, and an advanced stretching program. The Novo is also $500 less than the Ekon. We’ve had several positive reviews of the Novo XT2 as well.
The Ekon also has a lower maximum user height and weight range at 6’2” and 285 lbs where the Novo XT2 is a maximum of 6’9” and 300 lbs. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Novo is a newer chair than the Ekon and therefore might have better internal mechanisms, speakers, and software.
