Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer vs Panasonic EP-MA70

We maintain strict editorial integrity in our writing and assessments. Our main goal with this comparison is to educate the consumer and present the pros and cons of each massage chair to allow them to make the best purchase decision.

How They Look

From the beginning, you will see how different these two massage chairs really are. The Osaki Dreamer has rounded edges and a hood at the top of the chair with a built-in speaker system.

For your in-home planning, the Dreamer comes in four colors, black, charcoal, brown and cream while you have two options with the EP-MA70, either black or white.

The Panasonic uses the traditional looking recliner, but made it into a massage chair. The armrests are noticeably different as the EP-MA70 has a wood grain finish. The Osaki Dreamer has wood grain panel on the sides of the chair along with two blue LED lights toward the back end of the chair to help you relax in a darker room. We will get into what that technology is used for in the mechanical portion of the comparison.

An added bonus in the Panasonic EP-MA70 that could help in your home is the ottoman is rotatable to give you a look of a normal recliner.

Mechanically

Between the chairs there are similar functions, but they are implemented differently. They both share the 3D massage technology, where the massage rollers move forward and back, along with the up and down motion.

Massage Techniques

The Panasonic massage chair has unique massage functions that only come with the Panasonic brand. The Junetsu technique is a deep tissue massage where you will feel it all the way down into your bone. The 3D massage roller heads use a circular motion that loosens your shoulders and back. Another Panasonic exclusive is called the Grasping Technique, a specialized shoulder massage where the 3D rollers act like hands to grasp the shoulders, in turn loosening the muscles and getting rid of the tightness.

The Panasonic EP-MA70 also offers ceramic heaters built-in to the massage roller heads. The Osaki Dreamer offers a heated massage as well, but their heat therapy is provided by two heating pads located in the lower back region of the chair.

Both chairs use airbag technology for compression massage. The Osaki has 48 airbags located throughout the massage chair while the Panasonic has 33. The calf and foot massages in both these chairs function similarly to give you the best massage possible in your lower body.

Body Scanning

Both massage chairs have body scanning technology to help give a comfortable and personalized massage. Once the body scan is your massage will begin.

Foot Massage

Both these chairs offer foot massages, but with a different technique. The EP-MA70 has a plate that is under the footrest that uses tiny rubber bumpers to get a reflexology massage. The Osaki Dreamer uses massage rollers under their footrest to give you their reflexology massage.

2-Stage Zero Gravity Recline

The Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer has two-stage zero gravity so your body can get into a position where your feet get higher than your heart. This position helps muscles around the joints and back decompress so your massage is more beneficial. The Panasonic EP-MA70 does not have zero gravity technology, but it does recline normally to put you in a restful position for your massage.

Armrests

Another significant difference is in the armrests. The Panasonic armrests recline with you as you recline in the massage chair, so your arms are always in a perfect angle for the best possible massage.

Both chairs provide a compression massage to the arms, but the EP-MA70 works differently, smaller airbags inflate and deflate as it moves down the arm to give a sensation of the kneading technique. With the OS-3D Pro Dreamer, the compression massage is accompanied by rubber nodules that help soothe your hands and arms.

The Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer massage chair has a speaker system built right into the chair, so you don’t need to put on headphones. The remote comes with an auxiliary jack for your smart phone or mp3 player. The Panasonic EP-MA70 also has a plugin for your smart phone or mp3 player.

Finally, the two LED lights on the sides of the Osaki Dreamer will give you Chromotherapy to help relax.

Warranty Comparison

Both chairs come with great warranties: The Osaki massage chair comes with a 3-year warranty in the first year you will get in-home service at no cost to you. The second year covers parts replacement only and in the third year your frame is the only thing covered.

The Panasonic massage chair comes with a 5-year extended warranty that covers parts and labor for five years with in-home service from the date of purchase.

Conclusion

Both of these high-end massage chairs feature some of the latest technology in in-home massage chair engineering. Since the Panasonic EP-MA70 is a newer chair it does have a few more advanced features, but they come at the slightly higher price of $5499, whereas the Osaki Dreamer massage chair provides an excellent deep tissue massage with plenty of adjustability for $5295 (Normally $6295) after the $1000 instant savings you receive when you add the dreamer to your cart.
